Mumbai, July 23, 2009 - Merchem Limited was awarded the Chemexcil Certificate for Export Excellence. Mr P. E. Thomas, Managing Director, Merchem Limited received the award from Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, at a glittering ceremony held in Mumbai.
This award is based on Merchem’s consistent and substantial export growth performance being shown every year. Exports constitute about twenty percentage of Merchem’s turnover and are expected to grow up to twenty-five percentage for the year 2009-2010. The target turnover for the current year is about Rs200 crores, out of which the export turnover is pegged at Rs50 crores.

Merchem has a centralized and most-modern Research and Development wing, recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. The R and D is instrumental in developing environment-friendly and carcinogen-free, green molecules that have gained Merchem wide acceptance abroad, especially in major markets of Europe, South East Asia, Australia and Latin America. Merchem products are also pre-registered for REACH to help the company maintain its prominence in the European markets. Speaking of the recognition Mr P. E. Thomas said, “The Company’s vision of aiding progress has always been hand-in-hand with the concern for quality of human life and environment. This has been our strength and has got us here. We hope to better this in the years ahead and to bring home the much needed foreign exchange to the country.”
